COVID-19 pandemic has much increased the masks presence in public. However, some people still refuse to wear a facemask because it is not a culture norm in the United States, and they feel strongly about their personal liberty, according to SFChronicle.

Infectious disease expert George Rutherford pointed out that wearing a mask in public is “…the equivalent of not blowing smoke in someone’s face. If people are going to be out and about, I think we need to be conservative about masks. It’s a trade-off.”
