BloodSTOP® and BloodSTOP® iX are biocompatible, non-irritating, woven matrices of fibers made from natural plant compounds. They adhere to a wound, initiate blood coagulation, stop bleeding, and form a protective layer to create an optimal environment for wound healing. Their water solubility allows for removal by rinsing, without disruption of a clotted surface.

These products are covered by U.S. Patent No. 7,262,181.

BloodSTOP® and BloodSTOP® iX Effective at Controlling Bleeding on Test Subjects Receiving Coumadin, Aspirin & Plavix, and Heparin

LifeScience PLUS, manufacturer of BloodSTOP and Blood STOP iX, has released the results of a preclinical study designed to evaluate the effectiveness of BloodSTOP iX in controlling bleeding and promoting healing on test subjects that had been administered anticoagulant drugs. The results showed that BloodSTOP iX was able to achieve hemostasis in a test group administered anticoagulant drugs in a time period that was found to be comparable to similar wound sites on the control subject.

“We are encouraged by these results, and will continue to collect data,” said Vicky Feng, CEO of LifeScience PLUS.

The study was performed using four healthy swine. Three animals were assigned to the test group administered anticoagulants and one animal was designated as the control and received no anticoagulants. A scalpel was used to create six linear incisions on the subject’s abdomens that extended down to the innermost layer of the dermis. BloodSTOP iX was then applied to all wounds in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions after which all animals were observed for a period of 13 days.

Test results showed that the time to achieve hemostasis in the anticoagulant group was comparable to the control animal with no statistical differences found at a 95% level of significance.

“This study will be added to the body of technical knowledge that we are building in our ongoing development of BloodSTOP products,” added Feng.

BloodSTOP iX was originally developed for use in surgery and can now be found in sports stadiums, emergency responders' first aid kits, hospital emergency rooms, dental clinics, military field applications and veterinary clinics. Using a proprietary method, cotton cellulose is etherized and oxidized creating a highly absorbent, water soluble matrix; it is a non- irritating, environmentally friendly and cost effective method for treating many different wounds.

BloodSTOP iX quickly absorbs blood and other body fluids forming a gel that seals the wound, aids in blood clotting and helps create a proper environment for wound healing. It can easily be cut to fit everything from small shaving nicks to larger cuts and scrapes. Since there are no adhesives used there is no discomfort or disruption of wound surfaces caused by the removal of bandaging materials.

BloodSTOP iX has received FDA market clearance for prescription and BloodSTOP has been cleared for over the counter sales. For more information please visit the website at
