Who is it for?
BloodSTOP and BloodSTOP iX hemostatic gauze can be used on anyone who is bleeding—whether they are bleeding because of a minor cut or a major surgery. It is commonly used in a wide variety of settings—including home first aid kits, school athletic fields, emergency responders' kits, veterinary offices, surgery rooms, dental offices, ob/gyn offices, and battlefields.

How does it work?
When it comes into contact with blood, BloodSTOP hemostatic gauze speeds coagulation and expands to a gel that adheres to the surface and applies pressure as it seals the wound.

What are the BloodSTOP and iX differences?
LifeScience PLUS makes two hemostatic gauze products: BloodSTOP and BloodSTOP iX. They are both water-soluble hemostatic agents made from the finest completely natural cellulose. BloodSTOP hemostatic gauze is often used externally because of its cost-effectiveness; it is made of oxidized cellulose. BloodSTOP iX is used primarily internally; it is made from etherized regenerated cellulose and typically stops bleeding 80% faster than traditional methods and reduces blood loss by 60%.

About BloodSTOP™ and Surgery
All Surgery
Surgeons will find BloodSTOP™ and BloodSTOP™ iX essential tools to control bleeding.

BloodSTOP™ is ideal for external wound bleeding management, while BloodSTOP™ iX is a fast and easy solution to internal bleeding control. Upon contact with blood, these hemostatic gauzes interact with the clotting factors of blood and turn into a cosmetically clear gel shield that stops the bleeding and protects the site. These transparent shields are cosmetically pleasing, and allow the surgeon to monitor the wound.

BloodSTOP™ and BloodSTOP™ iX can be easily removed with saline or water irrigation.

A BloodSTOP™ iX hemostatic gauze can be custom cut or formed to fit hard to reach bleeders and tight spaces, or multiple gauzes can be placed to stop wide area bleeding. Stopping bleeding with BloodSTOP™ iX is less traumatic to tissue than cauterization, and its speed allows surgeons to focus on the operative task.

General Surgery
BloodSTOP™ and BloodSTOP™ iX can be used in a variety of out patient applications such as burn or wound care, minor surgery, and laceration repair. BloodSTOP™ iX can be used internally in any surgery where bleeding can occur. This includes abdominal surgery such as gallbladder removal and appendectomy, thoracic surgery, or trauma surgery.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
BloodSTOP™ iX can be used in a variety of applications such as burn care, wound care, breast augmentation or reconstruction, and skin grafts
